IMPORTANT UPDATE:    Club Affiliation Update – Effective June 2025

We wish to inform all members and the community that as of June 2025, our Club is no longer affiliated with the Mid-South Canterbury Sub Centre (MSCSCA), and are are now officially affiliated directly with Canterbury.

This decision was not taken lightly and voted on and passed unanimously at our Annual General Meeting.

What this means for members:

All Club members remain affiliated through Athletics New Zealand and Canterbury, and while athletes are still welcome to compete in Mid-South Canterbury events, please note:

  • You will not be eligible to earn points or trophies at any of these events.
  • The Club will not be associated officially in any way, and so will not be marketing these events through Social media or our website.

If you would like further information or clarification about this decision, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the Club Committee.

Thank you for your continued support.

SCAAC Committee.

NOTE: To compete at any of the Athletics New Zealand, Canterbury Children's or Canterbury Senior events, you will need to be registered with the club (see links above) as well as for the event itself. We will provide any Links are on our Events Page - Under Competitions and Results.

Winter Coaching & Training.

SCAAC Winter Training 2025 – Limited Spots Available!

As we move into the cooler months, SCAAC is excited to announce our Winter Training Program, running from April to October 2025. This year, we are offering two key training elements to help athletes aged 10 - Adult stay in peak form.

* Technical Training – Focused on Running, Jumping, and Throwing. These sessions are designed to refine technique and improve performance through the Season.

* Strength & Conditioning – Build power, endurance, and resilience to enhance overall athletic ability.

Spots for both programs are strictly limited, so if you’re keen to participate, please contact the club at [email protected] or [email protected] as soon as possible. We will connect you with the coaches leading these sessions.

Don’t miss this opportunity to train through winter and come back stronger for the next season!

Run Jump Throw

Run Jump Throw will be restarting in October 2025, and will be held every Wednesday from 5:30pm till 6:30pm with Have a Go Evenings on Friday Nights.

This programme is offered to 6 - 10 year olds of all abilities, and uses modified equipment and games to help maximise participation and enjoyment.

The programme uses a bottom-up approach to teach skills and adaptations needed for athletics movements – so participants can learn the necessary fundamental skills and basic movement patterns in an inclusive, positive and supportive environment, and continue to refine their skills through our athletics club following on after they leave the programme.

Participants will learn, grow their confidence and be challenged at their own pace.

     * Venue:   TGHS,  Martins Field, Timaru
     * Cost:       TBC
     * Time:      5:30pm - 6:30pm

     * Dates:    October - December

Athletics Needs You!

VOLUNTEERS & OFFICIALS MAKE IT HAPPEN!

As a community we are dependant on volunteer helpers and officials, without whom we are unable to run regional, school, inter-club or even club events.

New Zealand Athletics along with Athletics Canterbury offer an official's training programme, which can be done either in person or online.

Participating in these programmes will help you better understand the basic rules of each event, and are open to everyone - including parents, caregivers, older athletes and coaches.
