Other Competitions

Club uniform is compulsory. Junior participants must wear their age patch and Seniors their registration numbers at all of the following competitions. 
We strongly encourage all registered athletes to compete in these various competitions. 
They get a sense of belonging to the club, competition improves their performance and they meet athletes from other clubs and develop ongoing friendships.


Mid-South Canterbury Inter Club Events 2020/2021:
The competing clubs are Ashburton, Geraldine, Temuka, Waimate, and South Canterbury.

ARTHUR CUP
This competition is open to all grades and is a team event, competing for the Arthur Cup.

ROSE SHIELD CHALLENGE
This competition is open to all grades and is a team event, competing for the Rose Challenge Shield.

This competition is run by Geraldine Athletics Club. All clubs can only enter 2 athletes in any grade over each of the events, with the exception of seniors where 3 athletes are permitted. 

The javelin will start with warm up at 8.30am with competition starting 8.45am, 13 years and upwards - all other events start at 9.30am


LOVELOCK CLASSIC
This competition is open to registered athletes in all grades with some selected senior events sponsored with prize money for placings.

MID-SOUTH CANTEBURY SUB CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS 
This competition is open to all registered athletes and is an individual competition for athletes to compete for Ribbons and Certificates given out at the end of the season prize giving.

Colgate Games: 
South and North Island games are held each year in early January for the 7 - 14 grades. 
The South Island Colgate Games are being held in Nelson, 15-17th January 2021.

Athletes come from South Island Clubs and some from North Island Clubs.
(North Island Colgate Games 8-10 January 2021)
Competition is over 3 days and events are run like a mini Olympic games with a March Past of teams on Day 1. Medals are presented to 10 - 14 grades and ribbons and pennants presented to 7 - 9 grades on a podium.
Athletes can enter a maximum of five events plus a relay. The relays are selected by Club Team Managers (and relay fees paid by the Club).

             Cost:               $6 per event 
             Entries:           Entry form to be in by mid November.

This competition is for senior registered athletes only and is held over three sessions.

Canterbury Children’s Athletic Championships:
A two-day event (Sat and Sun).
This is another highlight of the athletic calendar for the 7 - 14 year olds. From this meet, as well as from performances throughout the season,  the provincial representatives for Canterbury are selected.
